What Are Same-Day Crowns?
A dental crown, also sometimes known as a cap, is a covering for a damaged or unsightly tooth. It can be used when a tooth has an extremely large cavity, can help save a broken tooth, or is even used as the final step in the dental implant process. Because of the technology we use in our office, we are able to provide same-day crowns to our patients. Just as the name implies, patients will only need one office visit to complete treatment.
Advantages of Same-Day Crowns
If you have had a dental crown procedure before, you more than likely needed more than one appointment to complete treatment. The first appointment was to remove any decay from the tooth, take an impression of the tooth to be created in the lab, and be fitted with a temporary crown until the permanent one was ready. Patients greatly appreciate having the entire crown procedure in one visit and eliminating the need for a temporary crown.
The goopy impressions that you had to suffer through previously are gone and replaced with three-dimensional imaging to create an image of your tooth that is used to make the crown. The need for a temporary crown is also eliminated. Many patients struggled with temporary crowns falling out due to chewing and food choices.
